Luis Alfonso Gogo(ルイス アルフォンソ ゴーゴー）先生
①出身 ： フィリピン
②年齢 ： ３８歳
③趣味 ： アート・歌うこと・料理

When I was little, I always had a growing fascination with the arts. I find it very interesting how one can manipulate shapes and colors using one’s imagination using bare hands. As I explored various mediums, from painting to crafts, I discovered that each form of expression offered a unique way to convey emotions and tell stories. This journey not only nurtured my creativity but also deepened my appreciation for the diverse world of art around me.
小さい頃、私はいつも芸術への憧れを募らせていました。素手で想像力を駆使して形や色を操ることができるのは、とても興味深いことだと思います。絵画から工芸まで、さまざまな媒体を探求するうちに、それぞれの表現形式が感情を伝え、物語を語るためのユニークな方法を提供してくれることを発見しました。この経験は、私の創造性を育んだだけでなく、身の回りにある多様なアートの世界への理解を深めてくれました。
I was in preschool when my parents realized that I was an artist. One time, we were asked, “What do we want to be when we grow up?” Without any hint of hesitation, I told everyone in the class that I wanted to own my very own “Art Shop”.
私が幼稚園に通っていた頃、両親は私がアーティストであることに気づきました。あるとき、「大きくなったら何になりたい？」と聞かれ、私は何のためらいもなく、クラスのみんなに自分の「アートショップ」を持ちたいと言いました。
I envisioned a colorful space filled with canvases, paints, and all sorts of creative supplies, where people could come together to explore their artistic talents. Little did I know that simple dreams spark a lifelong passion for creating and sharing art with others.
キャンパスや絵の具、あらゆる種類の創作用品でいっぱいのカラフルな空間で、人々が集まって自分の芸術的才能を探求できるような場所を思い描いていていました。私は、単純な夢が、アートを創作し他の人々と分かち合うという生涯の情熱に火をつけるとは知りませんでした。
Back in the Philippines, art shops are almost everywhere; they are just like mushrooms. The owner, usually the artist himself, accepts commissions to design ads, signage, and even screen printing for clothing. Of course this was before computers.
フィリピンに戻ると、アートショップはどこにでもあります。オーナーはたいていアーティストで、広告や看板のデザイン、衣服のスクリーンプリントまで依頼をうけます。もちろん、これはコンピューターができる前の話です。
I was in elementary school when I started to join art competitions inside and outside my school. But more serious stuff happened when I was in high school. Sometimes, my school would sponsor me to travel to another city for an art competition.
学校内外の美術コンクールに参加するようになったのは小学生の頃でした。
でも、本格的に始めたのは高校生になってから。学校がスポンサーになって、アートコンテストのために他の都市に行くこともありました。
When I was choosing my program for college, I really wanted to take something like fine arts or design, but my parents hesitated and wanted me to take a more conventional program so I could become a doctor or an engineer or maybe a teacher (?).
大学の進路を決めるとき、私は本当は美術やデザインなどの学科に進みたかったのですが、両親は躊躇して、医者やエンジニア、あるいは教師にならせたかったようでした。
While I was studying at university, along with 2 of my artist friends, we decided to create a university club that would not only quench the artistic thirst of every struggling artist at the university but also be an avenue for them to develop a sense of leadership and cultural appreciation. I became the 2nd president of that club.
私が大学で勉強している間に、他の2人の芸術家の友人と一緒に、大学で苦闘しているすべての芸術家の芸術的渇望を癒すだけでなく、彼らがリーダーシップと文化的鑑賞の感覚を養う手段となる大学のクラブを作ることにしました。私はそのクラブの第2代会長になりました。
I may not have become the artist that I wanted to be, but still, I incorporate my art in every way that I can, especially with my work as a foreign language teacher here at Joyful English School.
私は自分が望むような芸術家にはなれなかったかもしれないが、それでも、特にここジョイフルイングリッシュスクールで外国語教師として働く中で、自分の芸術をあらゆる方法で取り入れています。
To date, the club has been running for 17 years. The club has been getting recognition both locally and internationally. This tradition also paved the way for some members to become cartoonists for Manga and other international creative productions.
クラブはもう17年も続いています。クラブは地元でも国際的にも認知されてきました。このような伝統が、マンガやその他の国際的な創作物の漫画家になる道を開いたのです。
We captured this image during our inaugural club orientation in 2006. Jed (left), Zabra (middle), and me, of course (right). There were about 500 participants during this event, so you can hardly imagine how only 3 of us were able to pull off the program.
この写真は2006年のクラブ創設時のオリエンテーションで撮影したものです。ジェド（左）、ザブラ（中央）、そしてもちろん私（右）。このオリエンテーションには500人ほどの参加者がありました。たっ人でた３人でそのプログラムを成し遂げたなんて、ほとんど想像できないと思います。
This is the JES board at Enzan Branch. This is just one example of the boards that I design every month.
これは塩山校のJESボードです。これは私が毎月デザインしているボードのひとつです。
Are you a cat person, a dog person or more of a rabiit person?
あなたは猫派ですか、犬派ですか、それともうさぎ派ですか？
I also do some still life art but don`t do it often because it requires more time. lol
静物画も描きますが、時間がかかるのであまりやりません(笑)。

intoの後ろにくるのは名詞か動名詞(動詞のing形)となります。ちなみに、後ろに人がくれば～に夢中ですという意味になりますよ。I’m into her.(わたしは彼女に夢中です。)
I’m really into reading books. ( わたしは本を読むことにハマっています。）
I’m into coffee now. ( わたしは今コーヒーにハマっています。）
He’s into Keiko. ( 彼はケイコに夢中です。）
