Hello everyone! From Fujiyoshida JES, Nina here!
The halfway point of Spring has passed, and, with every day, the surrounding mountains become greener and greener. Personally, I love the mountains in mid-late spring the most. It feels refreshing just to look at them!
皆さんこんにちは！JES富士吉田校のNinaです！
春も折り返しを迎え、日を追うごとに周りの山々がどんどん緑を増してきました。個人的には、春の中頃から後半にかけての山の景色が一番好きです。見ているだけで気分がリフレッシュできますよね！
And, whilst Fujiyoshida is only just coming to a warmer time, some places already make you feel like Summer is here. Recently, I went for a day trip to Kamakura and, between the weather and the ocean view, I had a hard time not thinking about how similar it is to a tropical island resort.
富士吉田ではようやく暖かくなってきたところですが、場所によってはすでに夏のように感じられるところもあります。最近、日帰りで鎌倉へ行ってきたのですが、天気や海の景色も相まって、まるで南国のリゾート地にいるかのような気分になりました。
Granted, we were there for only a short period of time, but nonetheless, we had a lot of fun. I’ve been to Kamakura a few times prior to this, but not recently, so it was a very fun time going back to the busy Komachi shopping street and seeing Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine again.
滞在時間は短かったものの、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。鎌倉にはこれまでにも何度か行ったことがありますが、最近は訪れていなかったので、にぎやかな小町通りを歩いたり、鶴岡八幡宮を再び訪れたりと、とても新鮮な気持ちで楽しめました。
Out of the many, many shrines and temples of Kamakura, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine and Hasedera temple have got to be my personal favorites, so I’m very glad to see we got to see at least one of those 2 places on our trip this time around.
数ある鎌倉の神社やお寺の中でも、私のお気に入りは鶴岡八幡宮と長谷寺なので、今回の旅行でそのうちの一つを訪れることができてとても嬉しかったです。
Plus, we were lucky that the Peony garden in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine was still blooming, so we got to see peonies of all colors!
そして運よく鶴岡八幡宮のぼたんがまだ見ごろだったので、色とりどりのぼたんを見ることができました！
After the shrine, as I was with friends from overseas, we decided to go see an iconic scenic spot – the railway crossing at Kamakura Koukou-mae station, also known as the Slam Dunk crossing. It is funny that certain spots become iconic and people flock to them but forget why and for what reason they were popular.
神社の後は、海外から来た友人と一緒だったこともあり、有名な絶景スポットへ。
それが、鎌倉高校前駅の踏切、「スラムダンクの踏切」です。
こうした場所が有名になると、なぜ人気になったのか理由が忘れられてしまうこともあるのが少し面白いところです。
Whilst I’m very happy that many people love Japan like I do, it is very funny to see massive groups of tourists all struggling to get a shot of the Enoden – like sardines in a can. Still, I have to admit that the photos turned out pretty good and it was worth it, even just for the walk along the seaside streets leading to Enoshima.
日本を好きで訪れてくれる人が多いのはとても嬉しいことですが、江ノ電の写真を撮ろうと、多くの観光客でぎゅうぎゅうになって頑張っている様子はどこか微笑ましくもあります。それでも、撮れた写真はとても素晴らしく、江ノ島へ津木菟へ続く海沿いの道を歩くだけでも十分に価値のある時間でした。
After we got back from the railway crossing to the car, we got to see a magnificent view from the parking lot itself. Seeing both Enoshima Sky Candle and Mount Fuji illuminated by the sunset was truly a sight worth driving and being stuck in traffic for.
踏切から車に戻った後、駐車場から素晴らしい景色を見ることができました。夕陽に照らされた江ノ島シーキャンドルと富士山を同時に眺めることができ、そのために運転して渋滞に巻き込まれたことがなかったかのように思いました。
Nothing makes me look forward to Summer as much as the idea of going swimming and relaxing at the beach and this short trip to Kamakura certainly brought that feeling back!
海で泳いだり、のんびり過ごしたりする夏を思い浮かべると、今からとても楽しみで、
今回の鎌倉への小旅行でその気持ちがさらに高まりました！
